Winter has definitely arrived this weekend to the UK, especially so for northern areas.
The cold air turned showers into snow across Scotland (mostly for the Western Highlands) as well as the hills of Northern Ireland and northern England.
Yesterday an Atlantic storm, not a hurricane, caused disruption across parts of Britain and Ireland, with Scotland being the worst affected. It's certainly not as windy today, but there is still a risk of severe gales for northeast Scotland,
Call me stupid (you're welcome to do so in the comment box below!) but I've always wondered where the saying, ''batten down the hatches'' came from?
There’s still a great deal of uncertainty regarding the weather for Thursday night and Friday, so it’s worth keeping up to date with the forecast.
It’s all down to an area of low pressure currently across the Atlantic.
So I'm sure we're all aware by now that this Christmas won't be a white one, in fact it will be very mild for most with temperature highs on Christmas day looking very close to the all-time Christmas Day record of 15.6°C. However,
Well it has been rather windy to say the least across the UK over the last few days with gusts in northern parts over 100mph.
Last month was the mildest December since 2006, with temperatures around the December average, whereas December 2010 was the coldest on record with lots of snow in many places. It just shows how different things can be from one year to the next.
